The setting of the game is fairly common

Kelly Green: Garden Queen is another entry in the vast catalogue of games falling in the farming genre. Farming games are a popular choice among masses for killing time and are usually ideal for causal gaming. Let’s find out if this game is any good or is just another ordinary game in the genre.

In Kelly Green: Garden Queen, you assume the role of Kelly who has inherited a nursery from her grandparents. You have to help Kelly along with her brother Neil and two other companions to take care of the nursery and make it reach its zenith. Kelly is more of an urban girl and likes to take on cooking rather than farming. But now that she has inherited the nursery, she has no other choice but to indulge in farming.

The gameplay is pretty interesting and revolves around planting flowers, plants and herbs. Some of the species of plants available in the game include lavender, hibiscus and rosemary among others. You have to buy seeds firstly and then plant them to be harvested. The availability of seeds is based on a dynamic system which takes into account seasons and day-to- day variations. In fact seasons play a big part in the gameplay.

Clients either visit your roadside shop directly or contact you through telephone to place orders. You can also serve the visiting customers with lemonades. This adds to the realistic appeal of the game. The clients who call are usually businesses. When clients order something, say a bouquet of flowers, you can complete the order through your inventory or if the requested items are not in the inventory, you can plant them. Some plants need to be planted inside a greenhouse. Others require initial plantation inside the greenhouse to be moved outside later. This adds another layer of realism to the game. The game also has some cattle which you have to take care of. For example, you have to rear cows to get milk which you can either sell directly or use to manufacture butter and then sell. There are other products too for selling purposes such as packed soil and dried plants. Oddly, all the products carry the same price tag.

The realism in the nursery is staggering. For example the plants are immune to pests and need to be taken care of in order to prevent pest damage. Various bugs can attack the plants depending upon the plant type and season. The measures available to counter this threat are also pretty realistic such as scarecrows, ladybug houses and cats. Cows and dead plants provide nourishment to the soil and can also be sent to the composter. The lightening and other ambient variables are dynamic and change according to the season.

The game’s difficulty level is adequately balanced. While on one hand it is fairly easy to swift through various levels of the game, it is quite challenging to earn trophies or rewards on the other hand. The trophies come in the form of blue ribbon, silver and a golden cup.
